About Kimia
Artistic Director of the Chamber Music Festival of Saugatuck since 2024, violinist Kimia Ghaderi is a versatile performer of chamber, orchestral, and solo repertoire. Originally from the San Francisco Bay Area, Kimia is Assistant Principal Second Violin of the Grand Rapids Symphony and has performed as soloist with the orchestra on multiple occasions. She has also performed with orchestras including The Cleveland Orchestra, Pittsburgh Symphony, Naples Philharmonic, and Akron Symphony, and served as Guest Concertmaster of the Ashland Symphony, Youngstown Symphony, and Vermont Mozart Festival Orchestra. Ghaderi has performed at chamber music festivals throughout the United States and in the Dominican Republic, Quebec, Austria, Italy, and China. She has collaborated with renowned musicians such as violinist Frank Huang, cellist Norman Fischer, and the Chilingarian Quartet, and performs frequently as part of the Ghaderi-Focks Duo with her husband, pianist Andrew Focks. Invested in bringing music to people of all generations in every part of the community, she presented over 50 outreach recitals throughout Northeast Ohio for the ArtsConnect series of Piano Cleveland. A dedicated violin instructor, she has served on the faculty of schools including Interlochen Summer Arts Academy and currently has a thriving private studio in Grand Rapids. Ghaderi earned her Bachelor of Music degree from Rice University and her Master of Music degree at the Cleveland Institute of Music.
