Bruce Uchimura · Cello
Bruce Uchimura received his Bachelor of Music degree from Julliard and his Master of Music degree from the Cleveland Institute. He has also studied at the Aspen Festival, the Meadowmount School, Banff Centre, and at the Spoleto Festival in Italy. His teachers include Leonard Rose, Channing Robbins, and Alan Harris; and he has studied chamber music with Felix Galimir, Bernard Goldschmidt, Koichiro Harad, and the Julliard Quartet.
Mr. Uchimura has performed with the Seraphin String Quartet and the symphonies of Charleston, South Carolina, and Macon Georgia, as well as with the Aspen Chamber Orchestra and the South Carolina Philharmonic; was principal cellist and associate conductor of the Augusta (Georgia) Symphony, and principal cellist of the Spoleto Festival orchestras.
Mr. Uchimura has also taught at Michigan State University, Augusta College, and the Cleveland Institute. He continues on the faculty of the Encore School for Strings and is a member of the Merling Trio, a Naumburg Chamber Music Competition finalist.
