Laura Sutton Floyd · Soprano
Soprano Laura Sutton Floyd is happy to be returning to the Chamber Music Festival of Saugatuck. Her collaboration with Festival founder Joan Conway dates back to 1984, when she joined the Hope College voice faculty. While living in Michigan she appeared with the Grand Rapids, West Shore, and Southwest Michigan symphonies, Opera Grand Rapids, Muskegon Community Theatre, the Hope Faculty Chamber Series, and as soloist with area choral groups (including the Hillsdale Chorale.) She has also appeared with Mississippi Opera, Roanoke Opera, the Green Lake Music Festival (Wisconsin), and in frequent solo and chamber music engagements. Since 1999, Laura has made her home in Hilton Head Island, S. C., where she is a favorite “regular” with Hilton Head Symphony Orchestra, Chamber Music Hilton Head, and the music ministry of First Presbyterian Church. Laura collaborates with her husband, clarinetist and guitarist Rusty Floyd, in a variety of styles sacred to bossa nova and together they seek to pass on their passion for music to their five-year-old daughter Samantha.
